Shutter Speed (15.10.21)

This week we were learning how to use shutter speed and TV mode. We decided to go just beyond the entrance of the university where there's a lake with ducks, gulls and swans, as well as a roundabout with lots of cars to show of what we learned in our lecture.
I really liked taking pictures of the swans since they didn't move as erratically as crows from last week. I liked the composition of this picture, and I liked how the swans were grouped together eating, kind of like a family meal!

I really like the colours in this picture. I think the metallic shine of the ducks head really compliments the more muted greens and blues on the reflection of the water.

I really love the cozy feel of this picture. I like how some of the ducks are sitting up while others are sleeping and sitting down. I think the shadow of the tree makes the picture more interesting as well.

I really like this picture because of the way the swans are posed. I know it's not a complex composition and the poses are very basic, but I think it still looks nice and shows how elegant the swans are, even though they still don't have their adult feathers yet.

This is one of the pictures I took to complete the work we were assigned during our lab. We used the TV (shutter priority) setting in order to get shots like this, where even though the car is moving at full speed, I managed to catch it nearly completely still thanks to a quick shutter speed.

Figuring out settings (8.10.11)

This week, we learned how to adjust the shutter speed and aperture on our cameras. once we figured out how to work these settings, we went around out campus to test out what we had learned.
I was really excited when I noticed crows walking around on campus. I tried really hard to get a good, clear image of them, but they wouldn't sit still for me! This was the clearest image I got, and while I don't think it's a great picture, I like the movement and the action in it. There WILL be a clear picture of a crow on this blog at some point, and that's a promise.
I really liked how this picture turned out. Again, it's not perfect, but I like the tone of the picture, as well as the composition, even if it's very basic.

It took me a couple of tries to get the right exposure for this one, but I love all the different shades of green and the light peeking through the leaves!

This was just me playing around with exposure. I think the trees are really dark but I love the way the sky looks!
