For our product shot assignment, we have to research some images we find interesting for our final shot.

Studio Photography product shot research
I really like the hand holding the bottle and the way the back lighting is in this image. (source: vistacreate)
I like the similar lighting on this image too, I also like the use of colour either side of the image. (source: Getty Images)
I like the dark brooding tone of this image. I also like the use of props. (source: Adobe Stock)
De-construct and re-construct assignment part 2 (07.03.22)
This week we edited our original photo for our re-construct assignment.
This is my original photo from the first part of the assignment.
This is the second part of the assignment. I used Adobe Camera Raw to change the brightness, shadows and other variables. I then took the image into photoshop to add more colour into the lighting and to use the spot healing brush to erase fluff that was on the models clothes. Overall, I'm very happy with how my final image turned out!
Product photography (Studio Photography 28.02.22)
This week, we began taking photos of products for our upcoming product shot assignment. I used my pair of airpods.
I chose the black background to compliment the reflectiveness of the case. I think the open case makes it look interesting as well, however I'm not too sure on the angle.
I really like how the background faded into the light. I also like the reflection on the background material once again, however you can see the case I was using to stand it up!
To be honest, I did forget to bring in an item to shoot and had to resort to what I had. I wish I had brought in something more interesting but what's done is done!
Lighting setups (Studio Photography 21.02.22)
This week, we learned about different lighting set ups for studio photography. Here's a few of the shots I took.
This was taken using a split lighting set up. This meant that there was one light to the right hand side of the model. This leaves a lot of sharp shadows on her face and leaves one side of her much darker than the other.

This photo was taken using a loop lighting set up. This means that there was one light at a 3/4 angle close to the model. This lights up more of the models face, but still leaves some sharp defining shadows.
This photo was taken with a split lighting set up. This is very similar to the loop set up, however instead of the light being close to the model, this time it's further away. This leaves more light on the face. It still produces shadows but they're much softer.
Adobe Camera Raw editing (Image Manipulation 21.02.22)
This week, we used the editing tools included in Adobe Camera Raw.
This image looks really dark and grey. So, I changed the white slider to brighten up the image.
This is the resulting image. It looks so much brighter and pleasing to the eye!

This image has a bright background, but the woman in the picture is really dark. So, I used the shadows slider to lessen the shadows and reveal her face.

This is the resulting image. It looks a lot better and you can actually make out the details of the woman's face! I found it really interesting that despite the photo being so dark, the camera was still able to capture all this detail.
In this photo, the landscape looks so dark, you can barely see any of the detail. To fix this, I used the exposure slider to increase the brightness and make the image clearer!
This is the resulting image. It looks brighter and you can actually see all the rocks!

I think the Adobe Camera Raw tools are extremely useful, especially for when a shot just won't turn out quite right!
Stamp and healing tools (Image Manipulation 14.02.22)
This week we were using the clone stamp tool and the healing brush tool to remove objects from photos in photoshop.
For example, in this photo we were asked to remove the people in the image.
We used the healing brush tool to remove the people and create a clear landscape.
We then used the patch tool to remove one of the horses in this image.
After removing the horse in the middle background, this was my final image.
Overall, I found this session really informative and learned a lot!

De-construct and re-construct assignment (07.03.22)
This week, we had an assignment where we had to recreate a portrait we found online. I decided to recreate "Dianna" by Mike McGee.
This was the photo that I recreated
This is the unedited picture I took.
I'm happy with how the picture turned out. The blue coloured gels didn't really work for me, I double layered them to try and get a deeper colour but it just wouldn't show. I do think I got the right lighting set up however. The only other issue I have with the picture is that the lights don't reflect well off my models clothes, but that's not something I thought about until after the photo was taken, which is my own fault.
I'm hoping to reintroduce the blue lighting back in the image for the second part of this assignment.
